SIOUX FALLS -- Sioux City Bandits Coach Jarrod DeGeorgia was hospitalized here Saturday night after passing out late in his team's 51-46 United Indoor Football loss to the Sioux Falls Storm.

DeGeorgia's wife, the former Melissa Marx, said her husband "was responding to questions and answering just fine'' as he was transported by ambulance from the Sioux Falls Arena.

"He did not have a heart attack,'' said Mrs. DeGeorgia, contradicting a report on at least one Sioux City TV station. "He's had a hard day today and last night. I think it was stress and he hasn't been sleeping well. They're going to do blood work and he's going to spend the night.''

According to his wife, the 32-year-old DeGeorgia, a former star quarterback for the Bandits and at Wayne State College, has no family history of heart problems.
