King's positions on issues merit full examination

SIOUX CITY -- This election, Steve King will face Rob Hubler for our congressional seat. Because King has adopted controversial positions on a variety of issues, live debates clarifying the differences between these candidates are essential in aiding voters with their choice.
While Hubler favors debate and certainly has positions to explain and defend, I doubt King will agree to have his doctrines held up to scrutiny. His was the deciding vote on the Medicade Prescription Drug bill, going against all of his conservative rhetoric, yet has not answered any opponent's questions on his vote. A true conservative calls for tax cuts, but King has ignored the other side of the conservative equation for pay as you spend, repeatedly voting to keep the trillion-dollar-plus war costs out of the budget and on the backs of future taxpayers. If the Iraqi front is crucial to this nation's security and survival (as King asserts), why aren't we being asked to pay for it?
Health care, immigration and energy policy are but a few of the crucial issues facing the next Congress. Our next congressman's positions deserve full disclosure, examination and answers before the November elections. -- Michael O'Brien

The last time he ran, about a month before the general election, Harkin came back to Iowa just long enough to get his picture on the front page of every other newspaper in the state taking credit for numerous public schools getting fire safety updates, i.e. fire doors, sprinkler systems, etc.
He actually called them "Harkin grants" as if the money had come out of his own pocket!
The money was the result of PORK attached by Harkin to a piece of federal legislation, all for the sake of earning pre-election brownie points with Iowa voters. In essence, taxpayers from other states paid for improvements in Iowa schools.
Other than a P.O. box in Indianola, does anyone know the location of Tom Harkin's Iowa residence? "

"Mr. King said about the recently killed al-Zarqawi, "There probably are not 72 virgins in the hell he's at. And if there are, they probably all look like Helen Thomas." Helen Thomas was an 85-year-old award-winning journalist at the time. Most Iowans don't insult old ladies."
But it's okay for the Fifth District Democrats to insult Steve King, his supporters (we're really dumb, you know!) and the town of Kiron (what good could possibly come out of a town of less than 300 people?)!
Newsflash: the Average Joe from western Iowa has enough common sense to tell when someone is joking around. Obviously the partisan hacks at kingwatch don't.

If your daughter were brain damaged and blind - but conscious - you say you would "let her go". By starving her to death?
Terri Schiavo's family was not "keeping her breathing." She was conscious, smiled when her family entered the room, would attempt to speak, etc. Surely you've seen video footage of her before she was euthanized?
If everyone and everything in the world were perfect, how would we ever learn the concept of compassion? So, you see, whether the afflicted one is aware or not, their life can most certainly have value.
