Rick Comley Jr., an assistant coach the past two years with the Des Moines Buccaneers, has been named Todd Knott's lead assistant with the Sioux City Musketeers.

Comley, the son of Michigan State Coach Rick Comley Sr. has worked extensively with Knott in the area of player recruitment in Des Moines.

The 29-year-old Knott, also a Des Moines assistant the past two seasons, was named Sioux City head coach last month, replacing Dave Siciliano, who retired at the conclusion of the season.

The new Sioux City assistant is a graduate of Michigan State and he also scouted for the Waterloo Black Hawks during the 2004-05 season.

"I was thrilled when I got the news from Todd that I would have an opportunity to work with him in Sioux City," said Comley. "Sioux City has become one of the best organizations in the United States Hockey League and can't tell you how happy and excited I am with the situation."

"Rick was invaluable to our staff in Des Moines," said Knott. "He helped us build our Clark Cup championship team in 2006 and he's got a great eye for talent and is well-respected in the hockey community."
