Hyperion opponents spreading confusion

MCCOOK LAKE, S.D. -- Here we go again. I find humor in some of the confusion that the people against Hyperion are putting out.
The real problem with our economy is oil/gasoline. People all around our country are struggling with gas and the price of it. If you are old enough you will have heard about gas rationing during both world wars. If we don't start producing gas, it will eventually be back.
Sunday’s Journal had Letters to the Editor from Hyperion opponents. They mentioned things like Chernobyl, the reactor number four disaster. This was a Soviet-built nuclear power plant that was NOT under the guidance of the EPA. This has nothing to do with a gas refinery, built with EPA guidance. Another Letter mentioned the growth of 600,000 bushels of corn each year. Let’s put that in perspective. If you put every commercial airliner in America in the air, at the same time, and one mosquito flew in the air, that’s what 600,000 bushels is compared to national corn production. Think about it, that's simply nonapplicable.
There is only one thing sillier than this. Remember the picture in the paper a few weeks ago of the people protesting Hyperion? Did you see the guy carrying the sign that said "Wind Power." Who drives a car powered by wind? This is the best they have? Simply dumb arguments. They have not one good reason to be against Siouxland growing and our nation getting more gasoline. -- John Adams

While youre there, you will notice the mention of "a sizable settlement of a dispute in Vietnam arising from one of Albert's personal transgressions involving a female citizen of Vietnam."
Then you can go to www.kommersant.com and look for Oct. 30, 2007, in the archives. That will tell you about the Hyperion connection with Russia. I dont deal in rumors, only things that can be documented. "
