Susan G. Komen affiliate elects officers

Susan Hall, executive assistant with St. Luke’s Health System, has been elected president of the Siouxland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Board of Directors for 2008-2009..

Robin Little, plant administrator for Mars Petcare US, has been elected president-elect; Mary Giffin, business manager for Curry Seed Company, treasurer, and Patty Limoges, mammographer and office manager of the, South Sioux City Mercy Medical Clinic, secretary.

The board elected the following new board members: Laura Pedersen, health care executive recruiter for Executive Search Associates; Kim Lyons Weiland, founder and owner of Beyond Pink LLC; Jeanette Zortman, recruiter for Siouxland Community Blood Bank.

Returning board members include: Giovy Carnet, owner of All World Translation Services and the Glass Slipper Bridal Boutique; Threasa Gunderson, account executive for Dakota County Star; Mitzi McGill, administrative assistant for Charles Kiple D.D.S., and Pam Mears, education chair, retired R.N. and community advocate.

The Siouxland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Board of Directors is comprised of local volunteer leaders who are responsible for ensuring local accountability and the organization’s success in carrying out its mission.

So far, the Siouxland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure has raised more than $600,000 and has more than 100 volunteers helping with events throughout the year. From the monies each affiliate generates, 75 percent stays in the affiliate’s home area and 25 percent goes to the national office for additional research.

The Siouxland affiliate was established in 2004 and serves seven counties: Woodbury, Plymouth, Sioux and Lyon counties in Iowa, Dakota and Thurston in Nebraska and Union in South Dakota. For more information or to get involved, visit the Web site www.komensiouxland.org. or call (712) 204-4095.
