City's Mardi Gras festival is July 3

SIOUX CITY -- For two days in July, the spirit of Mardi Gras will return to Sioux City with an authentic Cajun festival and parade.

The Krewe de Charlie Sioux Mardi Gras Festival will be at 5 p.m. July 3 at the Sioux City Convention Center in downtown Sioux City.

This year's theme is "Krewe de Charlie Sioux's World Tour," and will feature authentic Cajun food and a variety of entertainment.

The event will include food, activities and rides for the children.

This year's menu will be served to reserved tables from 5 to 7 p.m. and includes chicken and sausage gumbo, jambalaya, Cajun boudin ball, Charlie Sioux crawfish-stuffed mushrooms and fried pistalett.

The following day, the annual Central Bank Big Parade will be at 7 p.m., July 4, starting on the east side of Veteran's Bridge and continuing to the walkway tunnel leading to Gordon Drive.

Inflatable rides for children will be available starting at 5 p.m. in the children's area. Admission to the rides is $2. Concessions will be available from 5 to 10 p.m. along the riverfront.

Everyone will be able to enjoy fireworks at dusk, provided by US Water Services.
