Just some 'plain old English' answers

Posted: Wednesday, May 28, 2008
ELK POINT, S.D. -- Will the Journal please ask, answer and print these questions and answers regardiing Hyperion's proposed oil refinery: How much Canadian tar sand sour crude will be brought in to get 400,000 barrels per day? How much will be left over after all the processing? Where will the leftovers go? I have not heard these questions asked or answered directly and pointedly. I don't need lengthy technical answers. Just plain old English that we little people can understand. -- Julie Eckert

" Mr. mercer, many thanks for your forward looking efforts and support of the creation of jobs and opportunities for future generations. Your need to relocate is indicative of the the situtation that so many face, where they would like to live and raise a family in Siouxland, however, have to respond to the economic realities of the limited career opportunities. Many of us are hopeful, and are also willing to work, and vote to ensure that opportunities will improve with the construction of the energy center. "

" Come on "plain old English"...how about all of our fellow citizens (legal and illegal) that need to be informed on what is going on in THEIR community. Since they will be doing the bulk of the labor on building the refinery and most of the jobs once it is up an running. Let's not be so insensitive to their right to know what is going on...I say in "plain old espanol" as well. "

" FreeMan...no bull chips, we burn only the best. We'll welcome you with open arms, just leave the menagerie in Texas. Breathe the clean air, clear your head, honey...it'll do ya a world of good. "

" JB MERCER, what kind of job, a used car salesman? "

" To Last Comic Standing:

I still stand by my support of the Hyperion Project. I moved away because I had an excellent OPPORTUNITY for employment in Des Moines. If I had more OPPORTUNITY for employment in the Siouxland area, I might have been able to stay. It was not an easy decision to leave.

Oh, and the way the oil gets in is via a PIPELINE, ever heard of one of those? "
