Humane Society highlights cats during June

Posted: Tuesday, June 03, 2008
SIOUX CITY -- The Siouxland Humane Society and the American Humane Association are highlighting cats during June, national Adopt A Shelter Cat Month.

"Thousands of unspayed cats are having litters and many people bring those kittens here to the shelter," said Jerry Dominicak, executive director. "We have lots of adult cats, too. We just want to find good, permanent homes for as many as possible.

"We want to raise awareness of this month in a fun way to bring home the reality that these cats need safe and loving homes. By adopting a feline friend, not only are you giving a shelter cat a second chance, but you will also have a lifelong companion who will bring many years of love and devotion to your family." Dominicak said.

"The Siouxland Humane Society has greatly reduced its adoption fees," Dominicak said. "Country Vet," he added, "is donating free food and you will receive a free pet taxi as well. All the animals will receive initial preventative vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, free veterinary health examination, spay/neuter discount and a new parent adoption packet as well."
