Maple Valley MVAO 7, Lawton-Bronson 2

MAPLETON, Iowa -- Adrienne Elmquist was 3-for-4 and scored three runs while leading Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto's softball team to a 7-2 Maple Valley Conference victory over Lawton-Bronson Thursday night.

Steph Allen had two hits for MVAO, now 11-4 and 6-0 in the MVC. Sophomore Steph Peterson, who entered the game with a .550 batting average, doubled and drove in two runs.

Jamie Johnson had two hits for Lawton-Bronson. Teammate Katie Sorensen doubled.

Westwood 15, Kingsley-Pierson 14

SLOAN, Iowa -- Jordan Kerns' fourth hit of the night drove in Emily Ketelsen with the winning run as Westwood rallied past Kingsley-Pierson 15-14 in a Maple Valley Conference game Thursday.

Kaitlin Choquette also had three hits and Allissa Reeves an important pinch-hit double for the Rebels, who had to overcome a big eight-run first inning by the Panthers.

Dani Bottorff had a double and two singles while Ashley L:angel had a two-run double for K-P, now 1-11.

Westwood, now 6-8, scored eight runs of its own in the fifth inning to take a 14-11 lead before the Panthers tied the score at 14 entering the bottom of the seventh.Spirit Lake 10, Sheldon 1

SHELDON, Iowa -- Mary Brown pitched a two-hitter and struck out six Wednesday night as Spirit Lake whipped Sheldon 10-1 in Lakes Conference action.

Kori Heidebrink doubled, singled, drove in three runs and scored twice for Spirit Lake. Kylie Ingvall and Emily Mercer each contributed two hits and two RBIs while Kaisha Brown had two hits and two runs.
