Elk Point gets loans to fix water, wastewater woes

Posted: Saturday, June 28, 2008
PIERRE n Elk Point, S.D. will receive more than $700,000 in low-interest state loans to replace pipes in both its drinking water and wastewater systems.

The city's projects were approved for the loans by the state Board of Water and Natural Resources during meetings held Thursday and Friday in Pierre. They were among more than $11 million in grants and low-interest loans approved for various water-related projects statewide.

Elk Point will receive a $564,000 loan to replace the water lines under Washington and Clay streets, and a $150,000 loan to replace the sanitary sewer lines in the same location, according to an announcement this morning from Gov. Mike Rounds' office.

The loans will come from the state revolving loan funds for drinking water and wastewater system projects, respectively.
