Room still available in aerospace classes

SIOUX CITY -- Students still may enroll in three aerospace education classes offered by the College for Youth at Morningside College. The three classes are Space Cities, Level II and Space Encyclopedia.
Members of the classes' teaching team are Connie Richardson Smith of Sioux City, Mary Richardson Tester of Pawleys Island, S.C., and Stacey Snyder of Tripoli, Iowa.
The Space Cities class is for students completing first and second grades. The students will design a space station in cooperative groups using recycled materials. Two sessions of the class will be offered July 21-25. The first session will be from 9 a.m. until noon and the second from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost is $80 and includes tuition and all materials.
The Level II class is for students completing fourth, fifth and sixth grades or students who have completed Level I. Students in this class will learn how the space program improves life on Earth through rocketry, satellites, space stations and hydroponics. This class will meet from 1 to 4 p.m. July 14-18. The cost is $85 and includes tuition and all materials.
Space Encyclopedia is for students who have completed previous sessions or are middle school age. Students in this class will have the opportunity to interact using the space encyclopedia computer program. The class will meet from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. July 9 and 10. The cost is $40 and students bring their own sack lunch.
Students may sign up for the classes in person at the department of education office in Lewis Hall on the Morningside College campus or call the education department at (712) 274-5106.
