Response to flooding
raises his ire

Posted: Wednesday, July 02, 2008
SIOUX CITY -- After reading this morning's newspaper, I am thoroughly disgusted. Now, we Midwesterners are getting a taste of what happened after Katrina.

The politicians sit back and play games with our lives. The governor creates a new commission (at what cost?). The state legislature doesn't want to spoil their summer with an emergency session, so they're considering raising the price of gas (as if it isn't high enough). And the federal government is giving so much of our money to Iraq that there obviously isn't enough left to spend at home.

With all of the agricultural losses, a lot of people are going to lose their livelihood, which means a loss of revenue in tax dollars. Then, however, will we be able to support Iraq? S. Myers

" How ARE we paying for the war? Just once I'd like see a politicians feet held to the fire on that question, especially those who love to use divisive patriotism as a tool for staying the course and suggest the Democrats want to lose in Iraq. hmmm

I think the Republicans want us to lose. Why else would they not do more planning? Why else would they not pay more attention to the war and learn from their mistakes? Why can't they finish Afghanistan? Why can't they finish Iraq? Why can't they find bin Laden? Why can't they do ANYTHING right? I think Republicans hate America and that is why they are ruining our country and trashing the constitution.

But then the Dems are so worthless they never go on attack...constant defense, total wimps... you can have the worst administration EVER and the Dems will still role over and wet on themselves and give the Republicans everything they want and so I guess they want us to lose too.

People when the economy collapses PLEASE grab your pitch forks and torches and lets all march up to capital hill to tar and feather everyone. "

" Keith--Are you Keith Olbermann??

Because you seem to like to mislead people and lie like a rug to suit your own agenda.

Apparently you think that 'mandatory' spending is free, and only 'discretionary' spending costs American Taxpayers money.

Keep hoping for some kind of fishing expedition to find some kind of wrongdoing by the Bush Administration.

Don't worry, I'm sure something will come up if Obama starts to drop in the polls.

After all, to you people, it's 'Party Before Country' isn't it?

" Jose - My numbers related to "discretionary" spending in the budget. If you can sell America on giving up Social Security and abandoning the poor for Bush's corrupt war I hope you are pursuing a sales career. The $100 billion per year also doesn't count the percentage of the normal military budget spent in Iraq or the little diversions of domestic funds to the war, such as 5/6 of the New Orleans flood control fund. The lack of oversight of war spending has made a veritable feeding trough for too many little Republican piggies. The GAO and Senate investigations after Obama is sworn in should be more entertaining than the circus of a campaign that the GOP is running for their throw away candidate presently. "

" S. Meyers, the amount we spend in Iraq probably doesn't come close to all of the leftie programs stateside, like studying why chickens don't have lips or why dogs don't use hair spray. "

" Sorry Keith, but the 2008 Federal Budget included approximately $3,000,000,000 ($3Trillion) in total spending, of which about $1.8 Trillion was Social Security, Welfare and other 'mandatory' spending social programs and interest.

Using your number of $100,000,000,000 per year for Iraq out of $3,000,000,000,000 per year total budget is what??

(1/30 or .0333 if you can't do the math)
