Walsh throws no-hitter as No. 13 O-A makes finals

GALVA, Iowa -- Brittany Walsh pitched a no-hitter and struck out six Wednesday night as 13th-ranked Odebolt-Arthur advanced to the Class 1A regional softball finals with a 3-0 win over River Valley.
Odebolt-Arthur (24-8) scored all three of its runs in the fifth inning. Bayle Olerich walked, then went to second base on Shelby Cranston's sacrifice bunt.
River Valley's catcher overthrew first base on a bunt by the Trojans' Brianna Carlson. Then, with two outs, Morgan Olerich hit her first home run of the season.
The home run was one of just two hits allowed by losing pitcher Jody Peterson. The other hit was a single from Abbie Grote.
Odebolt-Arthur is in the regional finals for the first time in school history. The Trojans will face third-ranked Woodbury Central tonight, starting at 7 o'clock at Battle Creek.
WCLT 4, Armstrong-Ringsted 0
ALGONA, Iowa -- Stacy Schutjer tossed a two-hitter and drove in a run at the plate to lead top-ranked WCLT to a 4-0 win over Armstrong-Ringstead in a Class 1A regional semifinal Wednesday.
The Tigers, now 32-0, will face Newell-Fonda in a regional final game here tonight. A-R closes its season with a 21-4 record.
Leadoff batter Erica Withers had two hits and scored three runs for WLCT, the last unbeaten softball team in Iowa this season.
