Alta 7, Storm Lake St. Mary's 5

ALTA, Iowa -- Scott Radke hit a two-run walkoff home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give sixth-ranked Alta a 7-5 win over Storm Lake St. Mary's in a Class 1A district semifinal Thursday night.

It was the second home run of the week and the ninth of the season for Radke, who was 2-for-4 and drove in three runs for the Cyclones. Austin Stille's sixth homer of the season was a solo shot in the fourth inning. Cody Nesbitt hit an RBI triple in the fifth inning.

Stille pitched one and one-third shutout innings of relief to get the win on the mound for the Cyclones, fanning three batters.

Storm Lake St. Mary's (15-13) tied the game 5-5 in the sixth inning on a three-run home run by Michael Ivey.

Alta (27-4) will face seventh-ranked Clay Central-Everly (22-6) in a district final which will start at 7 o'clock tonight in Spencer.

Gehlen Catholic 16, Lawton-Bronson 5

LE MARS, Iowa -- Eric Rohe and Craig Schlesser each recorded two hits and combined for seven RBIs Thursday night as Gehlen Catholic advanced to the Class 1A district finals with a 16-5 win in seven innings over Lawton-Bronson.

Rohe's two-run triple highlighted a three-run first inning for the Jays. Rohe and Schlesser each smacked RBI doubles in a four-run second inning while Schlesser added a two-run double in the fifth inning.

Chad Macek and Austin Sitzmann each added two hits for Gehlen (20-10). Winning pitcher Taylor Smith scattered eight hits in a complete-game effort.

Levi Keleher doubled for Lawton-Bronson, which ended the season with an 18-5 record.

Gehlen will host Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn in tonight's 7 o'clock district title game at the Riverview Complex in Le Mars.
