Obama can bridge America's gaps

Posted: Tuesday, July 15, 2008
DENISON, Iowa -- I take the Iowa caucus process very seriously and began studying the candidates in 2006. After reading Barack Obama's book "The Audacity of Hope," I was convinced that he offered something unique -- a chance to finally bridge the gap between red and blue states, between liberals and conservatives, between fundamentalists and secularists, and between the old and the young.

After reading "Dreams From My Fathe,"r I discovered a compelling life story which does NOT include anything about being a Muslim. Recently, I have read "The Defining Moment" about FDR's 100 days and "The Last Campaign," about Bobby Kennedy's last days in 1968. Both remind me of qualities I see in Obama -- FDR's savvy political sense and Bobby's mass, grassroots appeal to a broad spectrum of the American people.

Finally, I believe that if we Americans elect Obama this year, our respect from the rest of the world will be enhanced and the appeal of terrorists to poor youths around the world will sharply decline. -- Martin Peterson

" Jose I'm afraid neither do and it is beyond that now, I'm not Ron Paul supporter but he absolutely was correct on this, if you want to know the truth watch him school Bernanke here.

We are in bigger trouble than most know. "

" Actually, McCain has a plan for ending Budget Deficits and paying down national debt.

Obama admits he will not pay down the debt, and will most likely expand it to pay for his social programs.

America needs to wake up and keep the likes of Obama out of the White House if we are ever going to end the constant expansion of debt and expanding social programs that are already on course to break this country. "

" It's funny to see partisan pom-pom wavers who think one candidate over another is going to make a big difference in the next 4 years. Bush has already bent this nation over, he had a chance for 8 years to do something about the economy, particularly the national debt and the $50 trillion in entitlements which the GAO has stated for many years is unsustainable. It WAS the top issue in 2000 elections Bush ran on.

What did we get?

We got a financially draining half planned war we lied to about, remember it was suppose to pay for itself? Bush has spent like a shipload of Democrats.

How IS the war being paid for?

ITS NOT! We are simply printing money, expanding our national debt, and destroying our currency in the process. Which candidate is talking about this monster under the bed with any seriousness? NONE. Keep waving those pom-poms people, I hope your pantry is full and you have adequate gold and silver on hand when the dollar goes the way of the Continental. "

" If Obama were to become our president... i will be moving to Canada... Or, I may even see how easy it would be to sneak into Mexico! "
