Quick show of hands ... How many of you are glad you didn't let the Republicans invest your Social Security with their friends on Wall Street?

" I glad to see that some people saved their own money, so that they can be taxed again later we they withdraw amounts to help support the people that didn't save. Beautiful system. "

" What are you talking about Mark S? There has never been a lock box for Social Security. That's just a made up term. How could anyone possibly believe there could be a lock box for a government program? In 2000 there was a $85 billion Social Security surplus. What's happened over the past 8 years? Oh that's right, a Republican Congress overspent for 6 years and didn't fix the problem when they had a chance. "

" In 2007 937 BILLION dollars of the deficit went to pay Social Security Benefits. Why is this?? Because in the 1960's the Democrats broke into the Social Security lock Box and moved all the money into the General Fund so they could pay for the VietNam War.

If we had invested, like I did, this wouldn't have happened. My IRAs are doing much better, and this year are making 5 percent for the next cycle. Too bad the Democrats fought tooth and nail and refused to fix Social Security when President Bush tried, back in 2005, now all they have is a bigger problem, and it is all their fault. "

" Larry Johns, your an idiot! I came from a very poor Sioux City family. Moved out at the age of 19. After college, I started my career. I also started investing 20% of my gross pay on day one. I am now 46 and a multi-millionare. How much is my Social Security package worth? Hummm, I think I know what the correct choice was for me.... "

" Financial education...."what you don't know...CAN hurt you!" The most dangerous person to a politician (especially a Democrat) is an educated person. A financially educated constituency is the LAST thing an elitist politician wants!! Imagine that! I mean they might even figure out what's happening in Washington and demand....(oh Lord!!) ACCOUNTABILITY!! Of course, the Democrats are masters at the dependency game...but hey the Neo-cons are just as bad. "
