Don't play into the hands of the opposition

SIOUX CITY -- I feel the need to respond to the story by Mike Glover of the Associated Press in the Friday Journal. Mr. Glover quoted several N.W. Iowa Republicans regarding the lack of excitement about the candidacy of Sen. McCain. These same Republicans were very honored to wear the mantle of responsibility in the election and re-election of George Bush. Now they appear to want to earn the mantle of blame as they threaten to stay home on election day and force or allow the election of Mr. Obama.
I was very disappointed in the tone of the comments of Mr. Steve Scheffler that were related in the story, as well. He appears to believe that without his blessing as a suitable "Christian" candidate, a person cannot win in Iowa. I find this very arrogant on Mr. Scheffler's part. I think it is very unfair for anyone to try to read the level of Christianity that a person practices simply because not everyone is public in their practice of religion. I know Sen. McCain and find him to be a somewhat private person when it comes to personal things. He does not wear his religion on his coat sleeve as some would desire.
I hope that those who follow the teachings and preachings of Mr. Scheffler and his organization, the Iowa Christian Alliance, will use the common sense that God has given them and come to the realization that if they do not support Sen. McCain, they are playing into the hands of those who would harm this country beyond repair in the foreseeable future. -- Barb Vakulskas

Bush spends billions and billions on war, the first war in our history where taxes were not raised but actually lowered. Where we are not paying for it but devaluing our dollar (have you noticed the dollar isn't going too far now), willing it off to our children because we love them.
The self Defiling-crats give Bushco all he asks for, mo money, mo money, mo money to blow up oil land. Classically when the economy falls the Neo-nuts point a finger at the demoncrats for giving them all that they asked for. Why didnt you protect us from ourselves?! Its your fault we only ran the mess for 6 years! BTW pay no attention to our toe tapping moral values, or chats with male pages, or Haggard reverends, or those other men that got arrested for doing bad things in dark corners Ahem, yes well then. "

party is self-destructive and doomed to failure. It will take a couple of disasterous elections for Iowa Republicans to realize it. It is okay for the Iowa Christian Alliance to be part of the Republican Party, but not to dominate it. "
