Sioux City receives grants totaling $2.45 million

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, announced Wednesday that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has released a total of $2,458,693 to Sioux City through the Community Development Block Grant program, the Emergency Shelter Grants program and the HOME program and the Indian Housing Block Grant program.
Sioux City will receive $1,876,878 through the Community Development Block Grant program, $84,042 through the Emergency Shelter Grants program and $497,773 through the HOME program.
The Community Development Block Grant program promotes the development of viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment. This program also aims to expand economic opportunities for low and moderate income households.
The Emergency Shelter Grants program provides annual grants to improve the quality and number of emergency homeless shelters.
The HOME program helps expand the supply of decent, affordable housing to low and very low income families by providing grants to state and local governments to fund housing programs that meet local needs and priorities.
