" Ethanol has proven to be a quick fix for supplying this country with an alternative fuel. Albeit is not perfect, but is readily usable in almost all vehicles and is being produced from a commodity we have far too much of.

As some note, it is not as cheap to produce and use as oil.

Nothing is, that is why we need to produce more oil in this country. "

" As it takes approximately 40% more fossil fuels to produce than gasoline and delivers 10-20% less energy, how can any sane person advocate it?

It is a boom for a few farmers and a course to others. Like ALL government programs it is a nightmare created by politicians in quest of pork. "

" If America believes in free markets then allow free markets to work by eliminating all mandated use requirements for ethanol. If America needs or wants ethanol then why does the federal government force us to buy it? "

" The broader point is that the Federal Government needs to get out of every issue facing Americans today. States should decide on whats important to them. The Feds need to focus on major issues that affect all Americans as a group. Such as national security. "

" No. They should instead allow the importation of Brazilian ethanol without the 50% tax. Then we can use our corn for food and livestock. "
