Max Alan Schrank

DANBURY, Iowa -- Max Alan Schrank, 44, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Danbury, passed away Monday, July 21, 2008, in Dallas, following a courageous year-long battle with COPD (lung disease) brought on by Alpha-1 Disease.

Per his wishes, he was cremated. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be announced at a later date.

Max was born on Feb. 26, 1964, in Battle Creek, Iowa, to Helen and Rollie Schrank. He was raised in Danbury and graduated from Maple Valley in Mapleton, Iowa. He was currently teaching as much as his health would permit.

Max had a gift to gab and never met a stranger.

Survivors include his partner of 12 years, Doug West of Red Oak, Texas; a daughter, Whitney of Potomac, Md.; a son, Blake of Red Oak, Texas; his mother, Helen and Gary Kelley of Sioux City; his father, Rollie Schrank of Danbury; his grandmother, Helen Schrank of Danbury; five brothers, Sam and Julie of Klawock, Alaska, Terry and his wife, Jan and Gerry, all of Danbury, Joe and his wife, Deneen of Lititz, Pa., and Ted of Dallas; a stepsister, Stasha Kelley of Sioux City; three nieces, Shonda, Jetessa and Deja; a nephew, Tye; along with his dear friends, Kristin Brumfield, Harry Whitford and Fred Harris.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leo Schrank; grandparents, Sieb and Clara Seuntjens; a nephew, Rad; aunts, Sarah and Lois; and uncles, Ray and Joe.
