MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Olivia Johnson, a former Okoboji High School cross country and track standout, has transferred to Marquette University, where she has signed a national letter of intent.
Johnson, who will focus on the 800, 1,500 and 3,000 meters with Marquette, won NAIA All-America honors in both sports last year as a freshman at Northwestern College. She placed third at the NAIA cross country national meet, timed in a personal-best 17:46.
Johnson won four cross country meets for the Red Raiders, including the NAIA Region III title. She won Great Plains Athletic Conference honors and was named the league's runner of the year.
Johnson also earned NAIA All-America honors in the mile and distance medley relay in the indoor track season. She also was an All-American in the 1,500 and the distance medley in the outdoor track season.
Johnson will also run distance relays for Marquette.
"We are thrilled about the addition of Olivia Johnson to the women's cross country and track and field squad," said Marquette head cross country coach/assistant track coach Mike Nelson. "She is a talented runner and should make an immediate impact on our team."
