Dakota Valley fourth at state VFW tourney

WINNER, S.D. -- The 13-14 Dakota Valley baseball team concluded a 20-6 season by finishing fourth at the state VFW tournament held last weekend.
Court MacGregor had two hits and drove Colin Gunderson home with the game-winning run as Dakota Valley opened the state tournament with a 4-3 win in eight innings over Corsica.
MacGregor hit an RBI double in the third inning. Jerod Price added an RBI double in the second inning while Zach Selby pitched one inning of relief to get the win on the mound.
Groton whipped Dakota Valley 15-4 in a five-inning semifinal. MacGregor and Price each hit triples while Selby suffered the pitching loss.
Dakota Valley fell 6-5 in the consolation game. Price and Gunderson scored two runs apiece.
