Morningside volleyball team gets Division I transfer

Posted: Friday, August 01, 2008
Addi Radke, a 6-foot-1 outside hitter from Corvallis, Ore., will join the Morningside College volleyball team this fall with junior eligibility as a transfer from NCAA Division I Kansas State University.

Radke enrolled at Kansas State at the 2007-08 semester break and was a starter for the Wildcats in their 2008 spring competition. She went to Kansas State as a transfer from Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo., where she was a second-team NJCAA Division I All-American in 2007.

"Addi will be a great addition to our team," said Morningside Coach Rick Pruett. "You have to be excited any time you can add a Division I athlete to your program. She was slated to be one of the starting outside hitters at Kansas State this season, but after spending the spring there, it just wasn't the right fit for her.

"She will have an immediate impact on our team. She touches 10-2 and plays great defense. With that ability, she will be hard to stop."

Radke earned first-team All-Region IX honors in addition to her All-America laurels last year at Northeastern, where she recorded 554 kills, 360 digs, 132 blocks, 64 ace serves and had a .437 hitting percentage.

Radke is a 2005 graduate of Santiam High School, where she was a two-time first-team all-stater in her prep career. She originally attended NCAA Divsion I Cal Poly out of high school and was a redshirt in the 2005 season.

" Good luck to M'side with their acquisition, but one wonders what's up with this young lady? Cal Poly, Northeastern JC, Kansas State, now Morningside? In just 3 years? "
