Obama can 'change this mess we're in'

Posted: Sunday, August 03, 2008
MERRILL, Iowa -- For the first time in my life, and I'm a great-grandmother, I'm excited about a presidential candidate.

I've always voted, but this year I'm encouraging everyone to vote for Barack Obama. I've been to two of his speeches; he impressed me as being honest and sincere. That will be a nice change.

I'm frightened for my grandchildren's future if things don't change drastically in this country. Our servicemen and women have been killed and torn apart for nothing. The Iraqis are still killing each other, so what have we accomplished? Well, the contractors in Iraq are getting rich.

Think about it - each one of us has the power to vote. Don't miss this opportunity to help change this mess we're in. -- Carol Stout

" How can Obama be black butzvu blank? Slates are black, but he has written nothing on his but promises so shallow they are virtually invisible. "

" Perhaps Obama can "change the mess we're in." He has yet to provide any substantive clues as to how he would it. Without that kind of input, we can only hope that, if elected, he does not panic when the full scope of the mess becomes intimately clear to him. Frantically calling for change then from his subordinates could only intensify the mess. "

" The people who think John McCain would be a good President are the same people who re-elected George Bush to a second term and would vote him in for a third if they had a choice.
We are fortunate to have a candidate such as Barack Obama and I also encourage everyone to vote against the republican machine.Change is a very vague word but we need a new optimism and direction in this country. "

" Vegasrage, good to see someone aware that Bush and Cheney have brought elements of fascism here. Also good to see someone who knows the history that unfortunately brought Hitler to power. Continue to enlighten, please. "

The fox is fattening the chickens up for slaughter, and Washington is warming up to the idea.

Former PBGC director Bradley Belt (the agency behind the flwed ERISA act doomed to die thinks it's a great idea.

Not that I think Obama will be able to fix our mess, I know he can't. You should know though "Belt, a former top aide to presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Senator John McCain, had pushed a similar vehicle to make buyouts."

Wall streets only question to you is do you want to assume a 45 or 90 degree bent over position. "
