What Cheer man charged with drunken boating

CORALVILLE, Iowa (AP) -- A What Cheer man has been charged with drunken boating and child endangerment after authorities say he was intoxicated as he operated a boat on Coralville Lake.
Police records show that 42-year-old Jeffrey Shipley was boating on the lake on Friday and had five children, ages 13 to 17, in the boat with him.
If convicted, Shipley could face up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 on each of the child endangerment charges, and up to one year in jail and a $1,500 fine on the drunken boating charge.
