North's Wanner named MVP of All-Star series

WEST DES MOINES -- Brian Wanner of Sioux City North was named the most valuable player of the Iowa Baseball Coaches Association Senior All-Star Series, which concluded here Sunday.
Wanner, playing for the large-school West team, collected seven hits, drove in six runs and stole four bases in four games. The large-school West team finished 3-1, losing in the championship game to the large-school East squad, 3-0. B.J. Hermsen of Manchester West Delaware was the winning pitcher in the title game.
Hermsen will decide whether to enroll at Oregon State University or sign a contract with the Minnesota Twins organization.
