WAHOO, Neb. (AP) -- A Yutan man accused of killing a deer hunter has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Lee Koenig shot and killed Russell Christiansen, of Wahoo, last November, saying he mistook the man for a coyote.
Koenig pleaded guilty on Monday in Saunders County District Court after prosecutors agreed to drop a felony weapons charge.
Koenig faces up to 20 years in prison and a $25,000 fine. Sentencing is set for Sept. 22.
Authorities say Koenig fired a high-powered rifle from the back porch of his home, hitting Christiansen, who was about 200 yards away. Christiansen was hunting with his 15-year-old son when he was shot.
