Just wondering ...

Posted: Tuesday, August 05, 2008
Companies across the country are cutting back on production and employees due to massive losses. Mobil/Exxon posted a profit of $11.68 billion last quarter. That's the largest profit ever posted by a U.S. company in history. Gee ... I wonder how they did it?

" If you cant beat them join them. Or hey? I think I will figure out a way I can almost be independent from this oil crisis. I will ride a bike or a mopede.
Pioneers had tougher difficulties like keeping the house warm and in third world countries they all take taxis pulled with bicycles. I feel real sorry for you who do not want to pay for gas in your Chevy Avalanche.
Or your wifes suburban. "

" Poor little babies. You did get taken.
They are good business men that made a good profit, like they should and you would to. It means so much more than how we get from here to there. It means Americans priorities need to be established and unshambled. If one democrate or social selfish liar ever gave way to being a honest person things may actually change for the better.
Socials need to realize that theirs a right way to living life, and we cant get thier without a balanced perspective that things will happen and we wont like it. It would serve yourselves better if your all not a bunch of flailing chatterboxes. Or chirping birds asking for a bigger cage. Or ants marching or bees buzzing. I remember I stopped watching the Smurfs at age 7 or 8. "

" I can't believe the level of ignorance exhibited here.

You all complain about the price of gas, but are against expanding American oil production. You people would cut off your nose to spite your face.

Where are these alternatives to replace oil?

Show me evidence they exist and will be more plentiful and less expensive then gasoline.

You people are pathetic victims of class warfare. You have been brainwashed into thinking rich people are the cause of your high gas prices and the oil companies are 'keeping you down' so instead of using a plentiful and cheap, naturally occurring fuel source, you would rather hope and dream something better will come along someday.

If you don't have a viable alternative, you need to put up or shut up and continue to expand oil exploration to suit the needs of American citizens. "

" ...The very best estimates don't see us even getting to it for a minimum of 5 years but most agree a decade. Also from the EIA.

Now next I expect your going to throw the 18 month number at me which I can't find a source for. I've asked for some source on this number and for 2 weeks have had it skirted.

I'm not against getting the price of crude down with our oil if I thought it would work but I can find no one with any cridibility that says it will in the long term.

Also there is no way I would be for getting said oil if there wasn't a VERY LARGE portion of funds, or a plan of some kind for research and development on alternative sources.

We have to get away from oil. If we let them drill first we will never see alternatives, and in 10, 20, or 50 years we'll be right back here again. It's time we learned from our mistakes. We should have learned in the 70s. Time to get it right this time and it's up to my generation to make it happen. "
