Storm Lake man faces firearm charge

SIOUX CITY -- A Storm Lake, Iowa, man faces up to life in prison after a jury convicted him of a federal firearms charge in U.S. District Court in Sioux City.
Tarone Jones, 35, of Storm Lake, was convicted Wednesday of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to court documents, Jones possessed a .45 caliber handgun and a 12 gauge shotgun on Aug. 10, 2007 in Storm Lake.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Sioux City announced the verdict Wednesday, saying Jones faces 15 years to life in prison. His sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
The statement said Jones was arrested after Storm Lake police found the semi-automatic handgun hidden in his apartment following a fight between Jones and another man.
