Adams Homestead celebrates anniversary today

NORTH SIOUX CITY -- Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve will celebrate its 11th anniversary with an annual festival from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. today. The event will feature a variety of activities, including a threshing demonstration, corn shelling, candle making, shape note singing, Dutch oven cooking and a watermelon seed spitting contest.
Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve officially opened as a state park Aug. 14, 1997. The park is located one mile west and one-half mile south of Exit 4 in Interstate 29.
