Michael J. Tripp

SALIX, Iowa -- Michael John Tripp, 40, of Salix died suddenly Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at his residence.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, with the Rev. Patrick O'Kane officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a Scripture prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Michael was born Oct. 7, 1967, in Sioux City, the son of Joseph and Sharon (Eliason) Tripp. He was raised in Salix and graduated from Westwood Community School with the class of 1986. During his school years, he was very active in the music and drama departments. He continued his education at Wayne State College.

He was an assistant manager at Coyote Canyon for many years and currently was a shift manager at Sioux Harbor Fuel Stop.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Imperial Court of Iowa. He enjoyed playing bingo with his mother and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, but most important to him was his family and time spent with his nephews.

Survivors include his mother, Sharon Tripp of Salix; a brother and his wife, David "Doc" and Jacquelyn and their sons, Brian, Brendan and Colby of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Robert "Rob" and Heather and their son, Carter of Sioux City; his grandparents, Eldon and Lola Eliason of Salix; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, great-aunts and great-uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph "Joey" Tripp; and paternal grandparents, Homer "Shorty" and Catherine Tripp.
