Altoona Scout volunteer pleads guilty

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- A Boy Scout volunteer has pleaded guilty to having indecent contact with a Scout.
Seventy-eight-year-old Irvin Barron of Altoona was arrested in April after the teenager told authorities that Barron abused him when they were alone at Barron's house on Jan. 1, 2007.
Barron pleaded guilty to the charge on Wednesday in Polk County District Court. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 26.
Barron remains free on bond. He faces up to two years in prison.
Barron, who was chairman of the troop committee in Altoona, was suspended from his duties following his arrest.
