GALVA, Iowa -- With the touch of a button, residents here now can choose what ethanol blends they pump into their cars.
At Galva Holstein Ag, just south of Galva near the U.S. Highway 20 interchange, is the first station to install what's known as a blender pump.
The pumps, which have been installed in a few dozen stations including South Dakota and Minnesota, allow customers to select E10, a popular mixture of 10 percent ethanol and 90 percent regular unleaded gasoline, E-85, a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent unleaded, or E30, a newer blend of 30 percent ethanol and 70 percent regular unleaded.
