ELK POINT, S.D. -- A police search of the Elk Point fire chief's computer found suspected child pornography, court documents state.
According to the documents, the Union County Sheriff's Office was granted access Wednesday to search a Gateway laptop computer belonging to Fire Chief Doug Kavanaugh of the city's volunteer fire department.
An officer searching the computer reported finding several images of suspected child pornography, according to a search warrant inventory.
When contacted by telephone, Kavanaugh did not have a comment about the search warrant.
According to the search warrant request, Kavanaugh reported on June 27 his computer had been stolen from his Burbank, S.D., home.
The Union County Sheriff's Office took a report, but the search warrant request indicates Kavanaugh reported the following week that he found the computer -- now damaged -- in his front yard.
Police took the computer and later requested a search warrant for its contents.
Union County Sheriff Dan Limoges had no comment about the case, saying it is still under investigation.

Does the county investigator know the difference between child porn and what ever the heck goes through his brain. Power trip will get him set and someday watch his judgement and just reward will follow him. "

Well the "train" only runs through Elk Point and the officals in this town need to be put back on the right track by higher officials before the "train" stops. "
