SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A Sioux Falls man has been charged with invading the privacy of his friends by using a hidden video camera to record them in his bathroom.

Nathan Scott Campbell has been indicted on two misdemeanor counts of taking pictures of women's bodies without their consent.

The 37-year-old Campbell was charged after a woman told police that he showed her a recording of her using the bathroom at his former home.

Police reports indicate there were two female victims, but a court document indicates there may be many more.

The recordings are alleged to have been made last year between February and April.

Each count against Campbell carries a maximum jail term of one year.

" In regards to higher prison sentences, this is the kind of thinking that has caused the overcrowding of our prisons and jails. People do not realize the amounts of money prisons and jails require. Spending government money (which comes from the people) to house people beyond what is reasonable hurts society as a whole more than society benefits. The assignment of more money to more serious offenses (such as murder and rape) and lesser amounts to lesser offenses (such as petty theft and traffic violations) would be a good start to bringing sense back to the justice system. Jailing people convicted of lesser crimes for longer periods of time end up costing much more than the cost to house that one prisoner. For one thing, jail is not happen in a vacuum. One last thing - with the limited information from the above story there are already two people who automatically jump to the conclusion that this guy is guilty before being proven in court. Such a thing should not be the case in this country. "

" The possible sentence is already heavy enough for what he allegedly did (no evidence was mentioned and he has yet to go to trial). Since he has not yet gone to trial, he is not "getting away" with anything (remains to be seen). He is facing the justice system for what he allegedly did. If anyone has more information and evidence they should give it to the police. Being able to ruin someone's life and actually doing it are two different things. There was no mention in the above story of anything beyond recording and the showing of the particular recording to the recorded person. Privacy invasion degradation and rape degradation are two very different levels. If you were to ask someone which they would prefer to experience (if they had to), everything else being equal, most people would choose the invasion of privacy. The only ones who would choose rape have some very unique problems (such as possibly being a masochist). "

" I agree but since he only recorder them and nothing else i think that he should be tried and go to jail foreveror longer than the time he was givin (in my opinion) "

" I can't understand why this person didn't get charged with rape. That's just exactly what this level of degradation is. Why only a one-year maximum - what would've happened if he posted the photos on-line and told the victim's employer he found the photos and she posted them herself? If he's capable of this violation, how cruel does he need to be before he faces appropriate justice? This deserves way more jail time and it ought to carry a mandatory jail term sentence. If he can ruin her life why does he get away, this kind of injustice for the victim is an outrage. "
