Mid-States opens new South Sioux branch

By Dave Dreeszen, Journal business editor | Posted: Saturday, August 23, 2008
SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Mid-States Supply Co, a distributor of industrial parts and components, hosted an open house Friday to celebrate the opening of its new South Sioux City branch at 900 Dakota Ave.

The new location, which boasts a 15,000-square-foot building and an abundance of outside storage, created six to eight new full-time positions, said company vice president Andy Brown.

Brown credited city administrator Lance Hedquist and economic development director Dan McNamara for their efforts in helping bring the firm to the northeast Nebraska city.

"We made the right choice and picked the right community to be,'' he said.

The South Sioux City operation has extensive machining and fabrication capabilities directly related to pipe valves and fittings. Regional focused inventory offers carbon, stainless and copper pipe, valves and fittings up to 60 inches in diameter.

"This is a wonderful transformation of another vacant building,'' South Siou City Mayor Bob Giese said.

Mid-States describes itself as a value-added distributor of general industrial components and parts, including valves, pipes, fittings and valve actuation. The Kansas City area-based firm has a customer base that includes nany of the most prominent industrial production companies, including food, energy and power company owners in North America.

Mid-States, founded in 1947, is a privately-held firm with 22 branches that serve the Midwest, extending as far east as Pennsylvania.
