Hall County inmate dies in custody

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) -- An investigation is under way into the death of a Hall County inmate.
Forty-two-year-old Jeffrey Hansen was being held on a theft charge in the jail in Grand Island. He was taken to the hospital Sunday evening and died on Monday.
Hall County Attorney Michelle Oldham says an autopsy has been ordered. She also says she'll be requesting a special prosecutor be appointed as required by state law to lead the investigation into the death.
No other details were immediately released.
