Seventy-six percent of all students tested this spring were competent or advanced in math, compared to 75 percent last year.
Eighty-four percent were competent or advanced in reading, compared to 83 percent last year.
About 63,000 public school students in grades 3-8 and grade 11 took Dakota STEP or Dakota STEP-A exams.
