Macy school canceled class to reroute power

MACY, Neb. (AP) -- School is out for the rest of the week for students in the Omaha Nation School District in Macy.

Superintendent Morris Bates says a construction project is under way and power has to be rerouted to the various buildings.

He says it's a major project, and officials decided to let the district's 400 students go home until next Tuesday.

Students were let out on Wednesday after a driver hit a power pole, knocking out the electricity to school and nearby areas.

Bates says power was restored after the accident, but schools officials decided to cancel class for the rest of the week to finish rerouting the power.
