GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) -- A sex offender who moved to Nebraska faces sentencing next month for suffocating his girlfriend's baby.
Christopher Klein had pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and failing to register as a sex offender. He had moved from the Minneapolis area.
On Tuesday the 21-year-old pleaded no contest to manslaughter. Hall County prosecutors dropped the other charge in exchange for Klein's plea.
Caitlynne Bohlen was 7 weeks old when she died Feb. 19.
Court records say Klein put a pacifier in Caitlynne's mouth, wrapped a blanket around her head and squeezed her against the side of her bassinet with a pillow.
Klein says he learned the technique from Caitlynne's mother, who also was charged.
He was not Caitlynne's father.
