Politics and Bristol Palin's pregnancy
Posted: Thursday, September 04, 2008
SIOUX CITY -- On Labor Day, I was following the story of Hurricane Gustav when news broke that the Republican vice president candidate’s under-aged daughter, Bristol Palin, is pregnant out of wedlock.
Immediately, the thought came to mind that this would be a travesty in other Christian circles. But the fact is, this is the daughter of the Republican vice president hopeful and already the Christian right is extending love and pardon for her indiscretion.
I have seen, time and again, my Christian brothers and sisters in churches that I have been a member of literally destroy people with similar life tragedies n divorce, under-aged pregnancy, racial intermarriage, and abortion, to name a few. Bristol’s pregnancy should not be the subject of scrutiny, but it just seems unfair that our church friends would push lifelong brothers and sisters out of a place that proclaims unconditional love and acceptance for the broken and suffering, then shun them when their sins come to light. But let’s just love little Bristol and excuse her sins so her mom can remain in the major political arena. -- Rev. Michael L. Ciavarella

What I want to know is, How did they start that hurricane? "

Do you characterize Governor Palin as "undereducated" simply because she didn't attend an Ivy League college, or because you're afraid that this hockey mom will go a long way toward thwarting the planned coronation of your Presidential preference? "
