LAKE PARK, Iowa -- Carl the llama was in no mood to be told what to do on Friday.
The animal, along with a pair of horses, were running loose in the area of Iowa Highway 9 and 150th Avenue when the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office and Lake Park Police Department responded.
Steve Hunter, the owner of the animals, was able to load the two horses into a trailer, but the llama would not cooperate.
Carl roamed the fields for some time, doing as he pleased, when he became spooked by several vehicles that were backed up on Highway 9 and bolted into a nearby corn field, according to a written statement from police.
Hunter rode into the cornfield on horseback to fetch Carl. Hunter was able to convince the stubborn llama to follow him and the horse back to his residence, officers said.
