Artist-in-residence exhibit closes Sept. 14

SIOUIX CITY -- The Sioux City Art Center’s annual artist-in-residence exhibition will close Sept. 14 with a special reception from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
This annual exhibition, which opened Aug. 9, features artwork by area high school students participating in the Art Center’s summer workshops for talented students. Students attended five three-day workshops in ceramics, drawing, painting and photography June 10 through July 17, working with four instructors to create artwork for the exhibition.
This year’s artists were Shantelle Dykstra, MacKenzie Fritz, Amanda Gill, Brennan Gill, Joe Hoelker, Kristopher Johnson, Bethany Lensink, Megan Logan, Monica Noske, Josh Powell, Laurel Protexter, Catherine Schuller and Melissa Wadzinski.
Artist-in-residence instructors were Shawn Adams (ceramics), Al Harris-Fernandez (painting), Pauline Sensenig (drawing), and Michael Northrup (photography).
