Unity Christian 40, South O'Brien 8
PAULLINA, Iowa -- Aaron Floen rushed for 155 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Orange City Unity Christian to a 40-8 win over South O'Brien in a non-district game Friday.
Floen scored on runs of four and 67 yards as the Knights improved their record to 2-0. Kameron Gradert also scored a pair of touchdowns for Unity Christian on a 91-yard interception return and a short run from scrimmage.
Mike Faust rushed for 123 yards on 19 carries and scored the Wolverine touchdown on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter. South O'Brien is now 0-2.
Lawton-Bronson 62, Woodbury Central 0
MOVILLE, Iowa -- Dakota Miller scored four touchdowns and Levi Keleher added three scores as Lawton-Bronson routed Woodbury Central 62-0 in a non-district football game here Friday.
Miller had two rushing touchdowns (9, 7 yards), caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from Clayton King and ran back an interception 20 yards for a score.
Keleher finished with 169 yards rushing and scored on runs of 39, 48 and 14.
King completed all three of his pass attempts for 177 yards and two touchdowns while also scoring on a 60-yard run.
Lawton-Bronson (1-1), which held Woodbury Central to 81 total yards, opens Class 1A district play at West Lyon.

PAULLINA, Iowa -- Aaron Floen had 159 yards rushing and two touchdowns as Orange City Unity Christian moved to 2-0 with a 40-8 win over South O'Brien Friday.
Floen scored on runs of three and 57 while also booting a 28 yard field goal for the Knights.
Kamero Gradert had two touchdowns, a two-yard run and a 90-yard punt return.
MIke Faust had 116 yards rushing, including a three-yard touchdown run, for South O'Brien (0-2).
Sergeant B-L 34, Western Christian 24
SERGEANT BLUFF -- Sergeant Bluff-Luton's Paul Saxon and Hull Western Christian's Theo Bartman hooked up in a terrific individual rushing duel here Friday night, but Saxon's team ended up on the winning side 34-24 in the non-district encounter.
Saxon carried 31 times for 193 yards and scored on runs of 18, 10 and one yards. Bartman, meanwhile, rushed 34 times for 234 yards and scored on runs of two, 80 and one yards. Western (1-1) also scored on an 11-yard pass from Trent Miller to Brandon Van Engen.
SB-L, now 2-0, also got an 33-yard TD run from Dustin Hiserote and 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Taylor Grote.
The winning Warriors led at halftime 21-18.
MOC-Floyd Valley 13, Sioux Center 12
ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- MOC-Floyd Valley held off Sioux Center 13-12 here Friday night.
Trailing 13-6, Sioux Center's Tyler Vermeer threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Green with seven seconds remaining in the game. The Warriors were lined up in the shotgun for a two-point conversion attempt, but the snap went over the quarterback's head.
MOC-Floyd Valley's Davis Bloemendaal had a 69-yard touchdown pass to Jon De Haan in the first quarter while Mitchell Janssen returned an interception 14 yards for a score in the fourth quarter. Matt Smolders recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for Sioux Center's other touchdown.
Bloemendaal rushed for 90 yards on 13 carries and the Dutch limited Sioux Center to just 29 rushing yards.
Both teams are 1-1 overall.
Harris-Lake Park 49, Spalding Catholic 36
ALTON, Iowa -- Kyle Jacobsen tossed scoring passes of 10 and 60 yards to Kyle Kruger and also fired a 18-yard TD pass to Mycal Sheridan Friday night as Harris-Lake Park evened its record at 1-1 with 49-36 eight-man conquest of Granville Spalding Catholic.
Kruger, who caught five passes for 111 yards, also hit paydirt on a run of three yards and Sheridan returned a kickoff 70 yards for a TD. Jacobsen, who passed for 139 yards, also sliced four yards for another TD. Sheridan rushed 22 times for 148 yards.
Spalding quarterback Randy Schroeder scored on runs of seven and four yards and also completed eight of 21 passes for 224 yards, including a 40-yard TD strike to Ben Jungers. Adam Schlichte also tossed a TD pass for Spalding, hitting Eric Konz for 40 yards.
Defensively, Harris-Lake Park's Matt Mayou, a 5-9, 206-pound senior, made 14 tackles, recorded two sacks, recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass, along with scoring on a four-yard run.
West Lyon 22, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley 20
INWOOD, Iowa -- West Lyon edged Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley 22-20 here Friday night, scoring the winning touchdown with 5:59 left in the third quarter.
Jason Koedam scored the deciding touchdown on a 10-yard run, his second touchdown of the game. Koedam also had a 4-yard scoring run while Jesse Selgeby rushed for 155 yards on 25 carries and scored on a 35-yard run.
Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley trailed 16-6 in the second quarter, but came within three at halftime on a 12-yard run by Josh Vander Maten. Vander Maten gave the Nighthawks a 20-16 lead with a 1-yard run early in the third quarter.
Both teams are now 1-1 overall. West Lyon hosts Lawton-Bronson on Friday while Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley plays at Spirit Lake.
Hinton 14, Le Mars Gehlen 0
HINTON, Iowa -- Aaron Book had a pair of 27-yard touchdown runs, leading Hinton to a 14-0 triumph over Le Mars Gehlen Catholic here Friday night.
Book had both of his touchdown runs in the second quarter and Rick Vander Kooi kicked both extra points. Hinton's defense had a couple of big plays in the first quarter, blocking a field goal and intercepting a pass.
Hinton and Gehlen are each 1-1 overall.
Central Lyon/G-LR 28, Le Mars 6
LE MARS, Iowa -- Central Lyon/George-Little Rock, ranked No. 2 in Class 2A, stopped Le Mars 28-6 here Friday night.
Jordan Gacke rushed for 143 yards and scored two touchdowns, on runs of 10 and 43 yards. Scott Eben and Dylan Reynolds each had short touchdown runs for Central Lyon/G-LR.
Le Mars got its only touchdown on a 33-yard pass from Tyler Candor to Levi Price.
Central Lyon/George-Little Rock, now 2-0, outgained Le Mars 288-155. The Bulldogs slipped to 0-2 overall.
Alta 14, Pocahontas 7
POCAHONTAS, Iowa -- Alta, ranked No. 6 in Iowa Class A, held off Class 2A Pocahontas 14-7 here Friday night.
Michael Huseman carried 13 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns for the Cyclones, now 2-0 overall. Huseman had a 63-yard run in the first quarter and had the go-ahead touchdown on a 9-yard run with 11 minutes remaining in the game.
Pocahontas drove inside the Alta 20 late in the game, but the Cyclone defense stiffened. Jack Mills, who had a two-point conversion run on Huseman's second touchdown, finished with 52 yards on 16 carries.
Westwood 44, West Harrison 6
SLOAN, Iowa -- Westwood leveled its record at 1-1 with a 44-6 win over West Harrison in a non-district game Friday.
John Croghan scored two touchdowns on runs of eight yards while Nate Kerns rushed for 97 yards on 16 carries to lead the Rebels' rushing attack and added a 21-yard touchdown run.
Mike Steinhoff also added a 37-yard interception return while Kenton Kollbaum and Gabe Wingert also scored rushing touchdowns.
Joe Roden scored the West Harrison points on a 29-yard run.

ODEBOLT, Iowa -- Chaps Wilcke rushed for 158 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove to a 55-0 win over Kignsley-Pierson Friday.
Wilcke scored on scored from 53, 65 and one yard to pace the Falcons, now 2-0. The Panthers are now 0-2.

SHELDON, Iowa -- Andy Gabe caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Nic Meendering to pace Sheldon to a 14-0 win over Storm Lake in a non-district game Friday.
Andy Dykstra also added a 60-yard interception return for the Orabs. Both teams are now 1-1.

WOODBINE, Iowa -- Woodbine claimed its initial eight-man football win, downing Sidney 63-0 in a non-district game Friday.
The Tigers, playing in their first season of eight-man football, were led by quarterback Nathan Lee, who passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more. Lee connected with Austin Hedstrom for a 34-yard scoring strike and to Ryan Fouts from seven yards out. John Gale also added two rushing touchdowns and led Woodbine with 180 yards on 18 carries.
Roland-Story 10, Southern Cal 7
LAKE CITY, Iowa -- Roland-Story edged Southern Cal 10-7 here Friday night.
Gunnar Wyatt kicked the game-winning field goal with 1:10 left in the game. Southern Cal's Greg Meyer passed 38 yards to Aaron Hildreth to give Southern Cal a 7-0 halftime lead.
Southern Cal's Kelan Richardson carried 23 times for 103 yards. The Mustangs, now 1-1, had 214 rushing yards.
East Greene 52, Charter Oak-Ute 30
CHARTER OAK , Iowa -- Tom Berger tossed four touchdown passes to lead East Greene to a 52-30 win over Charter Oak-Ute in a non-district eight-man football game Friday night.
Berger connected twice with Jesse Luther for strikes of 28 and 11 yards. Luther also scored on rushing touchdowns of 2 and 74 yards for East Greene, now 1-1.
Bryan Savery rushed for 127 yards and caught two touchdown passes from Melcum Folk to lead the Bobcats, now 0-2.
Newell-Fonda 33, Buffalo Ridge 7
NEWELL, Iowa -- Josh Hopper rushed for 122 yards on 16 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead Newell-Fonda to a 33-7 win over Buffalo Ridge in a non-district game Friday.
The Mustangs improved their record to 2-0 while the Bison dropped to 1-2.
Buffalo Ridge scored its touchdown on a 16-yard pass from Seth Johnson to Ray Wedeking.

CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Derek Green and Ryan Schaben each rushed for 100 yards as Boyer Valley blanked River Valley 46-0 in a non-district football contest Friday.
Green rushed seven times for 163 yards and had touchdown runs of 54 and 76 while Schaben added 120 yards on 13 carries for Boyer Valley.
River Valley quarterback Zack Hullinger went 8-for-20 with 171 yards, hitting receiver Austin Hansen five times for 119 yards.

FORT DODGE, Iowa -- Fort Dodge, Iowa's seventh-ranked Class 1A team, rolled to a 41-6 win over Mason City Newman here Friday night. Brian Sandvig rushed for 135 yards and scored three touchdowns for 2-0 St. Edmond.

GRAETTINGER, Iowa -- Drew Skatebo scored on a 25-yard scamper and Jake Hoffman added a 14-yard scoring run Friday night to power Graettinger-Terril to a 16-8 win over Remsen-Union. R-U scored on a 65-yard pass from Josh Bohnenkamp to Colin Sonnichson.

ONAWA, Iowa -- Avoca ASHT, ranked No. 5 in Class A, downed West Monona 35-14 here Friday night.
West Monona's Alex Maule carried 21 times for 145 yards and scored two touchdowns, a 2-yard run and a 28-yard scamper.

WAKEFIELD, Neb. -- Plainview snapped Wakefield's 26-game winning streak with a 26-6 decision in a season opener for each team Friday.
Tre Boyer scored two rushing touchdowns to lead the Pirates, who handed the Trojans their last setback in the 2005 Class C2 playoffs. Darren Forbes was the leading rusher for Plainview with 137 yards on 31 carries.
Wakefield, the two-time defending Class C2 state champions, scored their only points on a four-yard pass from Chad Clay to Seth Kramer.

HOMER, Neb. -- Travis Lindstrom tallied on runs of 29 and 19 yards to spark Oakland-Craig to a 25-12 win over Homer in a season opener for both schools. Colton Novak returned a kickoff 89 yards for a Homer TD and Alex Harris scored on a 55-yard pass from Alex Strong for the Knights.

HARTINGTON, Neb. -- Hartington Cedar Catholic opened the season with a 21-7 win over Crofton with Kyle Kramer tossing a 12-yard TD pass to Darin Hochstein and hitting Cody Klug with a 75-yard scoring pass. Chad Koch tacked on a 34-yard TD dash for the winners and Jordan Nelson had a 14-yard scoring run for Crofton.

NORTH SIOUX CITY -- Cameron Carter rushed for 162 yards on 16 carries, dashing 69 yards for a touchdown, as Dakota Valley evened its record at 1-1 with a 39-7 win over Beresford Friday night.
Six different players scored TDs for Dakota Valley. Along with Carter, Ryan Cook had 34-yard run, Adam Sexton a 28-yarder, Zach Meier a 15-yarder, Blaine Dunn a four-yarder and Matt Lupkes a five-yard scoring run.
The winners rushed for 400 yards in the victory. Kyle McKelvey tallied on a 36-yard scamper for Beresford.

GRAETTINGER, Iowa -- Drew Skatebo scored on a 25-yard scamper and Jake Hoffman added a 14-yard scoring run Friday night to power Graettinger-Terril to a 16-8 win over Remsen-Union. R-U scored on a 65-yard pass from Josh Bohnenkamp to Colin Sonnichson.
Lo-Ma 14, Maple Valley-AO 0
LOGAN, Iowa -- Adam Whisney booted field goals of 23 and 22 yards Friday and also scored on a one-yard run to spark Logan-Magnolia to a 13-0 shutout of Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto. Lo-Ma, now 1-1, limited MVAO (1-1) to 28 yards rushing on 35 attempts and 51 passing yards.
Avoca AHST 35, West Monona 14
ONAWA, Iowa -- Avoca ASHT, ranked No. 5 in Class A, downed West Monona 35-14 here Friday night.
West Monona's Alex Maule carried 21 times for 145 yards and scored two touchdowns, a 2-yard run and a 28-yard scamper.
West Monona is now 1-1 overall.
Nebraska
Plainview 26, Wakefield 6
WAKEFIELD, Neb. -- Plainview snapped Wakefield's 26-game winning streak with a 26-6 decision in a season opener for each team Friday.
Tre Boyer scored two rushing touchdowns to lead the Pirates, who handed the Trojans their last setback in the 2005 Class C2 playoffs. Darren Forbes was the leading rusher for Plainview with 137 yards on 31 carries.
Wakefield, the two-time defending Class C2 state champions, scored their only points on a four-yard pass from Chad Clay to Seth Kramer.
Oakland-Craig 35, Homer 12
HOMER, Neb. -- Travis Lindstrom tallied on runs of 29 and 19 yards to spark Oakland-Craig to a 25-12 win over Homer in a season opener for both schools. Colton Novak returned a kickoff 89 yards for a Homer TD and Alex Harris scored on a 55-yard pass from Alex Strong for the Knights.
Hartington Cedar Catholic 21, Crofton 7
HARTINGTON, Neb. -- Hartington Cedar Catholic opened the season with a 21-7 win over Crofton with Kyle Kramer tossing a 12-yard TD pass to Darin Hochstein and hitting Cody Klug with a 75-yard scoring pass. Chad Koch tacked on a 34-yard TD dash for the winners and Jordan Nelson had a 14-yard scoring run for Crofton.
South dakota
Dakota Valley 39, Beresford 7
NORTH SIOUX CITY -- Cameron Carter rushed for 162 yards on 16 carries, dashing 69 yards for a touchdown, as Dakota Valley evened its record at 1-1 with a 39-7 win over Beresford Friday night.
Six different players scored TDs for Dakota Valley. Along with Carter, Ryan Cook had 34-yard run, Adam Sexton a 28-yarder, Zach Meier a 15-yarder, Blaine Dunn a four-yarder and Matt Lupkes a five-yard scoring run.
The winners rushed for 400 yards in the victory. Kyle McKelvey tallied on a 36-yard scamper for Beresford.
