Pierce 55, Twin River 14
GENOA, Neb. -- Pierce generated 378 yards total offense, 323 of it on the ground in Friday night's 55-14 rout of Twin River.
Eric Koehlmoos, who rushed for 1,360 yards and 31 touchdowns for last year's Class C1 state championship team, got off to a great start as he ran for 184 yards and four touchdowns.
Brody Unger and Jarod Sedlacek each blocked punts for the Blue Jays. Kenley Silhacek returned Unger's block 11 yards for a score.
Norfolk Catholic 38, Boone Central 9
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Norfolk Catholic's football team exploded for 344 yards total offense in a 38-9 win over Boone Central Friday night.
Five different players scored for the Knights, including Brad Pieper, who rushed for a 58-yard touchdown. Teammate Tyler Daake caught a 55-yard scoring pass from Austin Ketter.
Coleridge 38, Niobrara 0
COLERIDGE, Neb. -- Jamie Huss passed for 218 yards and four touchdowns as Coleridge downed Niobrara 38-0 Friday night in an eight-man Class D2 contest.
Tyler Hefner had three catches, all for touchdowns on 53, 40 and 62- yard efforts. Hefner also ran for a one-yard score while Huss also fired a 31-yard touchdown pass to Seth Schroeder.
Hefner rushed for 53 yards. Huss and Jimmy Bush topped the defense with six solo tackles apiece.
Bancroft-Rosalie 74, Concordia 18
OMAHA -- Ryan Stansberry returned kickoffs 60 and 55 yards for touchdowns while leading Bancroft-Rosalie to a 74-18 eight-man thumping of Omaha Concordia Friday night.
Stansberry scored on runs of three and 20 yards in the Panthers' season opener.
Ryley Mohl's 101-yard rushing performance included scoring runs of one and 50 yards for a squad that outgained Concordia 296-115
Dodge 58, Allen 22
DODGE, Neb. -- Adam Ortmeier had eight rushes for 145 yards and five touchdowns while leading Dodge to a 58-22 eight-man win over Allen Friday night.
Scott Wilmes rushed for 113 yards for Allen, including a 39-yard score. Quarterback Heath Raber threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Williams.
Allen also got a five-yard touchdown run from Bob Adair.
Hartington 44, Pender 22
PENDER, Neb. -- Mason Miller rushed for 97 yards and added a running touchdown as well as a passing touchdown in Hartington's 44-22 win over Pender Friday night.
Miller threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Lammers and also rushed for a 15-yard score. Chad Miller (16 yards), Zach Bakke (6) Colton Benson (2) also ran for touchdowns.
Ross Eickhoff led Hartington's defense with 15 tackles and a fumble recovery. Brandon Peterson added 12 tackles.
Osmond 27, West Boyd 6
OSMOND, Neb. -- Osmond jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead en route to a 27-6 win over West Boyd (Spencer, Neb.) Friday night.
Jacob Krienert led the winning Tigers offensively, rushing 21 times for 146 yards, highlighted by runs of 26, 23 and two yards.
Quarterback Michael Koehler completed 4 of 7 passes for 88 yards and ran for a 14-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Bryce Johnson had three catches for 56 yards.
Verdigre 60, Newcastle 6
VERDIGRE, Neb. -- Taylor Kraft passed for 178 yards and three touchdowns while pacing Verdigre to a 60-6 rout of Newcastle Friday night in eight-man football.
Newcastle scored in the second quarter when Dylan Whelchel had a 22-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Grant Rolfes. Rolfes completed 4 of 13 passes for 46 yards and also rushed for 36 yards.
Sam Kneifl had 18 tackles to lead Newcastle's defense.
Archbishop Bergan 21, Ponca 7
PONCA, Neb. -- Josh Boggs snapped a 7-7 tie when he caught a 11-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Nick Lambrecht in the second quarter en route to Fremont Archbishop Bergan's 21-7 win over Ponca Friday night.
Ponca tied the game in the second quarter when Austin Hansen scored on a one-yard run.
Ponca was led by Jared Curry, who ran for 46 yards and also recorded six tackles. Quarterback Andrew Watchorn completed 3 of 10 passes for 29 yards.
Elgin 40, Bloomfield 0
BLOOMFIELD, Neb. -- Elgin had a commanding 409-104 advantage in total yards in its 40-0 shutout over Bloomfield Friday night.
Bloomfield was led by junior Nick Nipp, who rushed for 41 yards and also recorded 12 tackles (9 solo). Holiday Quezada also contributed nine solo tackles and three assists.
IOWA
Aurelia 13, Ruthven-Ayrshire 0
RUTHVEN, Iowa -- Aaron Bruce scored two touchdowns, the first on a 61-yard kickoff return in the first quarter as Aurelia blanked Ruthven-Ayrshire 13-0 in an eight-man game Friday night.
Bruce also threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Fowler in the second quarter. Bruce also shined defensively with three solo tackles, four assists and two tackles for loss.
Steve White had three solo tackles, three assists and two fumble recoveries for Aurelia (1-1), which yielded just 69 yards total offense. Alec Ohlson had three solos, five tackle assists and an interception.
Spencer 43, Cherokee 26
CHEROKEE, Iowa -- Cherokee senior quarterback Tyler Jones completed 18 of 33 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns in a 43-26 loss Friday to Class 3A Spencer and now needs just 56 yards to become Iowa's all-time prep passing yardage leader in 11-man football.
Jones, who increased his all-time completion total to 656, has now thrown for 7,646 yards, 55 yards shy of the record of 7,701 held by Keokuk's James Vandenberg, now a true freshman at the University of Iowa.
Cherokee, 0-2 after losses to 3A Storm Lake and Spencer, opens Class 2A District 2 play next Friday at home against Okoboji.
Clay Central-Everly 14, Marcus MMC 0
MARCUS, Iowa -- Clay Central-Everly hiked its season record to 2-0 with a 14-0 win over Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn Friday night.
The Mavericks scored both of their touchdowns in the first half. Wes Christensen ran for an 11-yard score and Lance Englert added a four-yard TD run.
The Eagles slipped to 0-2.
