COGGON, Iowa (AP) -- Linn County sheriff's officials have confirmed that a 2-year-old eastern Iowa girl died of multiple blunt force injuries.

Skylar Kristine Inman died at a hospital on July 12, a day after police responded to a call of an unresponsive child who wasn't breathing.

This week, police arrested the man Inman's mother was living with. Lee Muldoon, 23, of Coggon, is charged with first degree murder and child endangerment causing death.

He made an initial appearance in court on Wednesday morning. Bond was set at $1 million. If convicted, Muldoon faces life in prison on the murder charge and up to 50 years on the child endangerment charge.

His next court appearance was scheduled for Sept. 19.

Sheriff's say the injuries Inman suffered were no accident, but they declined further explanation.
