SIOUX CITY -- A man injured when his bicycle crashed into a pickup truck tonight in Sioux City appeared to be intoxicated, police say.
Sioux City police and ambulance crews were dispatched about 9:45 p.m. to a report of a pedestrian-car accident at the intersection of Villa Avenue and George Street.
There they found a bicyclist, described only as a man in his 30s, injured from the collision.
Sioux City police Officer Jay Tyler said tonight that the bicylist's medical condition wasn't known, but his injuries didn't appear to be life threatening. The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The man riding the bicycle appeared to intoxicated, Tyler said. No citations have been issued.
Alejandro Orozco, who was driving a Dodge Ram truck pulling a storage trailer, said he was attempting to turn left from westbound Villa Avenue onto George Street.
He said the bicyclist, who was going east on Villa Avenue, "just drove across the street."
No one in the truck was injured, Orozco said.
