MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) -- The fall enrollment at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell is down 10 percent from last fall.
Officials put this fall's enrollment at 714, down from 793 students a year ago. Last fall's enrollment was the highest in the past 30 years.
DWU's provost, Amy Novak, says part of the reason for the decline is fewer part-time students. She says groups of high school and other students that took classes last year on a spot basis are not doing so this year.
The school did say it met its recruiting goals for incoming freshmen. The freshman class has 280 students.
