Obama will bring 'real change' to Washington
Posted: Friday, September 12, 2008
SIOUX CITY -- It troubles me greatly that 51 percent of Americans polled still believe that Barack Obama would raise their taxes if elected president.
Is it possible that something so clearly and frequently stated by Obama is being misunderstood, or is it simply that people aren't listening? Obama has time and time again stated that if elected he will provide tax relief for the middle class, or those making less than $250,000 per year. I fall into this category, most of the people I know fall into this category. Therefore, I am to conclude that if Obama is elected president I would be able to anticipate lower taxes.
I really can't believe that the GOP still considers themselves the party of the "average person." Considering that in the last eight years our Republican president has raised our taxes, cut the gross family income, made it harder for average families to pay for college, made it impossible to find affordable (if any) health insurance, has brought unemployment to historically high rates, and provided financial loopholes for big business to ship jobs overseas, leaving so many Americans jobless.
The Republican presidential nominee is self-admittedly someone who has voted with George W. Bush approximately 90 percent of the time and considers "middle-class Americans" as those making less than $5 million a year.
I believe that America can be better, I believe that as Americans we deserve better than we have been given by George W. Bush, and I believe that Barack Obama is the candiate who will bring real change to Washington. -- Jean MaComb

Ask not what you can do for your government, but what the government can do for you! Motto for 2008 election.

I'll have you know that I don't expect a dime of your so called hard earned money. You are not paying for my insurance or my medical bills. Unfortunately the small town I live in does not have good jobs with good benefits that is why my husband and I work 60+ hours a week to take care of our family. Try working those kind of hours and then you might have something to whine about.
Besides all of you poor, poor Republicans will have something to whine about when Senator Obama is elected. Obama/Biden '08!!!!
P.S. It still does not give you the right to call people less fortunate than you scum. Oh, I forgot, that is the way you Republicans think!! "

I suggest you find a job that offers benefits just as I and millions of others have done. There are plenty of jobs being offered in the area that offer good pay and good benefits. Instead you would rather I pay for my own expensive health insurance as well as yours right? I am tired of being cheated because I work hard for what little I have just to have more taken from me because of a whiner like you. "
