MADISON, Neb. (AP) -- A 21-year-old Newman Grove man could face 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree assault in the death of another Newman Grove man.
The plea agreement in Madison County District Court means Lucas Nygren will not face additional charges in the death of 45-year-old Rikki Becher in October 2007.
County Attorney Joe Smith said Nygren and Becher fought at a Newman Grove house party because Becher allegedly bad-mouth Nygren's grandfather.
Smith said Becher was on the ground outside for hours before help was called. Becher had no pulse when rescue personnel arrived.
